Trap-Pop

Corner Stone is a group of stylistic nomads. As soon as you settle into one of their laid-back funky tunes like "Isn't It Amazin'", they break left and smash full throttle into one of their heavy pit bangers like "Witcha". Their CD "Corrective Action" encapsulates the thoughts, feelings and overall attitudes of the band's members. Despite only sharing a few influences here and there, Corner Stone's tracks on an individual basis come across as cohesive, fluid and unforced. Corner Stone has been steadily working their way up into being one of the top tier bands in their hometown of Vegas since debuting in February of 2001. They've become a consistently good draw in addition to snagging Band of the Month honors on the lvlocalmusicscene.com site and a full-page article in local publication City Life Magazine in June of 2002. With a relentless promotion ethic, wonderful support from fans, local promoters and radio and their new CD in hand, the band is looking to leave the nest and start exposing the rest of the world to what they're all about. And that is ... good music regardless of what category it's thrown into.
Band/artist history
Corner Stone was originally formed in late 2000 by guitarist Jose Paredes and front man Randall Logan. The two had met shortly before Logan left his previous band. Paredes was already in the middle of forming a project of his own and was looking for a front man when the two ran into each other again in September of that same year. Paredes then found bassist Mike Lopez in November. With the line-up rounded out by Aby Alonso (drums), and Bobby Hunter (DJ), the band played their first show four weeks later to a packed house at local Vegas venue Money Plays. By their one year anniversary in February of 2002, the band had 50 shows under their belt as well as a new and highly anticipated first CD on the way. The band’s first recorded song, "Pull", proved to be a great buzz builder. One week after it was recorded, the song was played on local station KXTE during the local segment of the station's highly popular "It Hurts When I Pee" show. Heavy rotation from another major Vegas station, KOMP’s “Homegrown Show”, soon followed. Their song, “Witcha”, even garnered the 4th most requested song of 2002 on the show. And since the release of their self-produced and funded CD, “Corrective Action”, the stations have been a big source of continued support. In spite of nagging line-up changes, which saw the current deletion of the DJ and new addition of Jason McNelis on drums in October of 2002, the band's energetic stage show, versatile sound, connections within the local scene, overall personable nature with the public and relentless promotion tactics have been what has kept the Corner Stone machine running strong. The support from the public as well as local radio are what keeps them striving to improve.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We play live ALOT. Our first year alone we did about 50 shows just in Las Vegas. We pretty much play any and everywhere there is to play in Vegas. But, we're really trying to venture out a bit more (LA, Phoenix, etc..). I love playing live. I'd do it at least 5 nights a week if I could. Our Cd release party abck in June of 2002 was great because we put together a very solid line-up of bands that were also good friends of ours and the crowd was very energetic. For some reason, we always have our best shows at the Hard Rock Cafe (Las Vegas). Maybe it's the mix of locals and tourists that just creates a great new energy for us.
Your musical influences
