Contingence

Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
15 years in existence, and still moving forward into the world of industrial metal, CONTINGENCE brought forth their 7th global independent release “Necropolis” in 2001 - the anticipated follow-up to the 1995 release “Dominion”. The lineup of this industrial-metal trio from Seattle, WA consists of: Project Founder/Vocalist/Programmer Otto Schopka, Guitarist Johnny Lenzini, and Drummer/Percussionist Johnny Ostrem. Otto Schopka originally developed the inner workings of the project back in 1990, starting from an electro-industrial base of ingredients. During the life of the project, these electronic experimentations have taken on a demonic aura that has become an entity of its own. Johnny Lenzini entered the project in 1994, toting a chaotic cutting edge guitar style that pushed the band further into the spectrum of industrial metal, and helped to further progress CONTINGENCE’s cold and brutal sound. Johnny Ostrem joined forces with the project in 1996 with his crushing rhythms, precision footwork, and uncompromising meter, as the Dominion release was circulating Europe and the U.S.. During the past 3 years, CONTINGENCE has been focusing their energy towards live performance, and constructing their newest and by far their most powerful collage of material to date. During this time, they have been in the midst of crossing the bridges of industrial metal and redefining the genre into what they term “Organic Industrial”.
