Conrad (Barbados)

I created this during the summer of 2009, after I chatted with a friend about the idea of a metal band based on black African-originated/Carribean mythologies and dark Barbadian Paranormal events. Then I expanded the band's themes after doing some research in the local libraries. Currently the main themes of the band are:

1. Ocean (Oseaan Kroniek): Ocean Chronicles - Myths and Stories about the Sea (Pirates, Neptune, Mermaids etc.)

2. Nature (Natuur En Die Omgewing): Nature And The Environment â“ Nature in Barbados (Flora & Fauna)

3. History (Ou Tyd Storie): Old Time Story â“ Pre Barbadian History (Amerindian Settlement, Life in Africa, Atlantic Slave Trade etc.)

4. Culture (Ons Kultuur): Our Culture â“ Folk Stories and Early Barbadian civilization (Not a lot of Ideas at this moment)

5. Mysterious (Misterieus): Mysterious â“ Paranormal Events and Superstitions. (Duppies, Ghost, Mass Murders, Conrad, Chase Vault etc.)

Originally started with 3 members but we're working on another project.

Conrad isn't a live band . . . at the moment.

Terje 'Valfar' Bakken of Windir. His compositional style has been a major influence on this band since it's birth. He used a music sequencer software called 'Fasttracker' which he used to give Windir its unique sound.

Conrad's sound is comprised of similar sequencers and the usage of DAWs (Digital Audio Workshops); fusing various sounds of nature with foreign and cultural instruments and also with a hint of industrialized/electronica overtones.

Other influences influences include: Burzum, Ulcus, Emperor and Cor Scorpii just to name a few.

Recording:

Guitars

For the electric and bass guitars, I use Guitar Rig 4. Recently Iâve been using Ampeg SVX with the bass as well.

Synthesizers

The synthesizer sounds are produced with NI Absynth 4 and Korg: WAVESTATION (I also have Legacy Cell, MS-20 and Polysix) through FL Studio 9.

Drums

I use the Drumkit From Hell expansion pack for Ezdrummer.

For my future work: Guitar Tracks Pro 3, Calkwalk Sonar 8.5, NI Evolve Mutations, NI Kore 2 & NI North India.

Instruments:

I only use 2 at the moment.

1) Fender Squier Bullet Stratocaster

2) Yamaha RBX 170 Bass
