Conjoined Snail

By Dollar, United Kingdom
September 01, 2005
Lunatek & The Conjoined Snail formed in 2005, Edinburghs finest electrocarp group; these half-crazed weirdo's will record anything and make music out of it - even your socks and pants. (lead member, shoe) "Yeah, uh, I like to try and mimic the sounds I hear in nature. Birds sing in quartertones and tones indistinguishable to the human ear. I think thats fantastic. I'd love to mangle a bird through some old reel-to-reel or something. [laughs]"
Band/artist history
While still having a very experimental sound, with a wide spectrum of noises, the groups main influences come from hip-hop, 80s dance music, jazz and ancient tribal ryhthms. Shoe: "Rythms were invented before our world even existed, and modern music is based on those ancient ryhthms. If each musician's work is influenced by the successful musicians before him, and new instruments are being invented gradulaly, then music is obviously changing, evolving, as is everything else. mobile phones for example."
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yea, we play live; Yes, I love it, Yes, our very first gig when I found that conjoined snail!
