It’s mind boggling when Kardinal Offishall co-signs you as the next to blow in Canada, then you co-produce the Swollen Members’ hit single Fuel Injected and follow that up with a track produced by DJ Revolution featuring Royce da 5’9, but still people are like “Who is Concise?” Well, Concise is an ambitious cat hailing from Vancity who is about to blow up first as a lyricist and secondly as a producer.
Born In Sudan of Ertirean descent , Concise arrived in Canada in 1989 and settled on the west coast in the city of Vancouver. Shortly after arriving, he met high school friend and fellow rapper Sazon Diamante, brother of Rascalz DJ/Producer Kemo. Through Sazon he soon began working on his love for Hip Hop music with Kemo, and eventually teamed up with his future partner in crime and fellow Defender of the Faith, Checkmate.
Concise soon established himself in “Van City” (Vancouver, B.C.) fledgling HipHop scene as a witty lyricist with unlimited potential. In the past 5 years Concise has seasoned his skills by touring extensively throughout North America, ripping versus on mix tapes, radio shows and several major and independent label projects, made numerous television appearances on Muchmusic, MTV, CBC, and solidified his position as one of the hottest up and comers in Hip-Hop today.
His writing credits include multiple appearances on Checkmate’s album Welcome to the Game (Double Up) including the single and video “These Days & Times”, “Borderline” from Rascalz Global Warning, and “Filthy” from Rasclaz Reloaded albums (VIK/BMG), “My Endeavors” and “Metropolis” from The Longplay Compilation (Nettwerk) and an appearance on the outro of DJ Mastermind’s Street Legal Compilation (Virgin). Although Concise recognized throughout the hip hop world for his superior lyrical abilities he is also fast becoming a highly sought after producer. His production not only includes his own singles, but Concise also co-produced Swollen Members hit single “Fuel Injected”, which helped propel their album Bad Dreams (Battle Axe) to gold status and a 2002 Juno award.
Concise is taking the leap in releasing his much-anticipated Double Up /Shoreline solo debut, FAME, giving his fans their first opportunity to plunge into the realities and livelihood of this young M.C. On the album title cut “FAME” Concise teams up with the world famous DJ Revolution and delivers a head nodding track about the highs and lows being a celebrity. In this song Concise not only takes us on a lyrical journey, but also produces the musical backdrop for the ride. The album features appearances with the Rascalz, Checkmate and Sticky Fingaz( from the group ONYX) on the track called “Gangsta” serve to re-enforce Concise’s credibility as a young star in the rap world, which has heavy rotation on college radio.
Currently the music video/single for “Rock the House ” is receiving Heavy rotation on Much Vibe along with Medium rotation on MuchMusic MTV, and commercial radio. Look out for the Dark Knight “Concise” debut Album “Fame” in September 2004.
Look out for my new album "F.A.M.E" in stores October 2004
