Comfort
Welcome to the World of Comfort. Come on in, kick your shoes off, sit down, make yourself "comfort"able. Would you like a drink?
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Comfort consists of two brothers, Mark and Scott Petranek. Mark plays all stringed and keyed instruments and Scott provides the battery by holding down the drums and percussion; Scott also performs the arduous task of recording and engineering Comfort's Music.
After compiling recording gear and building TFBO studios in the late 90's, they went to work on their debut album "Feelin' the Checkmate". A few years later they released their second effort "Hardball". The albums were good, but they were looking expand their horizons and bring a different flavor to the music.
One of the people recruited was Michele Pupa, a local singer in the band 'Slip Mickey', who became the voice behind Comfort's most recent effort "The Short Wave Radio Project". With the complement of her vocal abilities and style, the result has many in agreement that this is their best effort to date based on the feedback from those who received advance copies.
In addition to Michele's contribution, the album also features some other prominent members of the Chicago Music scene. Solo artist Matt Hoffer (formerly of 'Holding Mercury') who lends his vocal talent on the track "Hide Yourself Away", and local session bass player Andy Titchenal (formerly of 'Gel Heads' and Holding Mercury') who adds his signature on 5 of the tracks.
Mark's former band mates from the now defunct Alt. Country band Chain Daisy also stopped by to add their touches to the album. Singer Tim Moran performs on "Field Day" and "Coat Tail Blues". Bass player Brian Gasik performs on 4 of the tracks and Drummer Tom Weselak adds his drumming work to the instrumental track "Sullen".
The album is set to be released in April 2004. To hear some of the tracks click the music link on this site.
