Dark melodic rhythms rattle the ground and course through the air like a heartbeat. Psychotic, twisted lyrical content sends audience members into an emotional tailspin. A seven-string guitar and five-string bass weave an intricate and layered web of hypnotic, pounding force. Colporter expresses the dark truths underlying life today, along with the light that remains in that darkness.Band/artist history
COLPORTER
Music Connection Magazine Review
The Joint, Hollywood
The Players: Sarah Paolini, vocals, bass; David Paolini, guitar; Gary George, drums.
Material: If No Doubt and Metallica had a love-child, it would probably be Colporter. Smooth, angelic female vocals are the icing on this headbanging metallic cake. Heavy and dirge-like, yet progressive and dynamic, Colporter is the auditory definition of nu metal. Although the vocalist may be pretty, there is nothing pretty about the music or the lyrical content of this act’s songs. Emotional, deep, blunt and more than a little twisted, Colporter pulls you down to the innermost depths of the human mind and paints a musical picture that is as real and painful as it is compassionate and hopeful.
Musicianship: Colporter is a trio that sounds like a 37-piece heavy metal orchestra. This band is loud and hard, and not at all ashamed of it. Sarah Paolini pounds out five-string bass lines as she belts clear, strong vocals. David Paolini is a musically psychotic guitarist spewing riffs from his seven-string like a crazed gunman on a rooftop. Drummer Gary George is a percussive octopus whose appendages seem to multiply as the set progresses.
Performance: Visually, this was an attractive band. Blond, buxom and beautiful, Paolini belted out melodies over Colporter’s dark metal music while strutting the length of the stage clad in tight leather. But don’t let her looks fool you. She may be gorgeous, but she’s no cutesy bimbo. As tough as she is sexy, this was one bad-ass metal momma fronting a band that incited headbanging, mosh pits, and growls of enthusiasm from their metal maniac audience.
Summary: A relatively new band, Colporter’s sound is already professional and marketable. If this act continues to grow at the same rate they play, it is certain that they could very well be on their way to dominating California’s metal scene.

COLPORTER
SOVEREIGN MIND
SELF-RELEASED CD
Colporter is a metal trio whose female-fronted assault can be likened
to bands like Kittie, Drain STH, and Otep. On this 12-track offering,
Colporter involves itself with heavy guitars and pounding bass lines that would
make Korn proud. When topped off with an iridescent female voice, it gives
off a Gothic vibe. Even though the outfit has a penchant for pulverizing,
there's a strong melodic sensibilityespecially in the hooks of the songsthat
gives SOVEREIGN MIND a well-rounded vibe with the twist needed to stand out
in today's musical climate. www.colporter.com
