Band/artist history
Colin Kennaugh is a prolific, quality singer/songwriter, and
his collection of songs/instrumentals has now passed the two hundred mark.
He has gigged extensively all over the U.K. and talented pop song writing ability is his forte.
Amazing clarity and crispness always makes a difference - couple this with hooky pop songs and quality musicianship and there's no looking back.
Colin has fronted and performed with many different bands,
('Salt Of The Earth', 'Inside Information', 'Thru The Roof', 'Rose of Sharon', and 'The Word' to name just a few)
He has also written 99% of the material performed and recorded with the above mentioned bands.
His main band 'Salt of the Earth', performed live up and down the U.K. for about seven years,
and also recorded two albums (Pictures of Living' and 'SOTE') as well as two EP's ('Amazing Individual' and 'Let me Breathe')
'Salt of the Earth' were fortunate enough to have a famous celebrity fan called Howard Donald,
who used to attend many of their gigs and rehearsal's,
when he wasn't busy performing with one of the biggest bands the UK has ever produced, namely 'Take That'.
Howard also asked if he could 'guest' on the band's second album 'SOTE'.
As a result, Howard performs backing vocals and tambourine on Colin's song 'Drink your Fill' on the album, and also the vocal 're-mix' entitled 'it's for free'.
The multitude of live venues 'Salt of the Earth' performed at ranged from the famous 'Rock Garden' in London's Covent Garden, to many gigs at Manchester's 'Band on the wall', 'The Roadhouse', 'PJ Bell's' to Liverpool's famous 'Cavern Club'
'Salt of the Earth' also performed at many festivals and Universities throughout the UK.
Future Publishing's national 'Band' magazine, launched a competition to find 'the best unsigned band in Britain'. Colin's band 'Salt of the Earth' beat more than a thousand other bands throughout the UK (including Northern Ireland), to reach the Grand Final at Wembley, to win the title of 'Best Unsigned Band In Britain' at 'The National Music Show' event.
'Band' magazine wrote "of course, in the immortal words of Sean Connery,
there can be only one. It was never going to be easy with four so excellent and stylistically different bands, but 'Salt of the Earth' took the honours for "pure songwriting sparkle". Congratulations to 'The Salts', who took home a gold microphpone as well as 2000.00 worth of equipment and studio time, and a monthly article in The National Band Magazine
Colin continued to pen song after song, and he then decided to produce his own 'solo album' entitled 'Afraid of the Silence'.
He recorded this in his own studio, performing most of the instruments himself, with the help of Steve Conway (one of Lancashire's premier lead guitarist's)
He completed it in just under twelve months.
Colin has just released his new EP 'Play by the Rules' which features Darren Cowgill, who also performs his own version of one of Colin's songs 'Fools Gold' on the 4 track EP.
At present Colin is writing new material as well as working on his next Album 'Life Is Not Always Sugar-Coated',
which is scheduled to be released in 2015.
