codette

Codette are the evolution of gilder, a three piece electronica group formed in 2003. Three are now two - Jay Waddington & Elly Field and their inspired sound is a combination of Elly's bittersweet vocals and Jay's synth driven, eclectic production.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Codette are duo Jay Waddington and Elly Field. They have been around in one form or another for the last five years or so, producing their own special breed of music. Jay started off as a DJ before turning his hand to production, and was solo for a few years before he met Elly. When they did meet, Jay decided from the way she spoke that Elly would have a distinctive voice, and managed to persuade her to try it out. The rest as they say is history - the two have become a songwriting team with a special connection, in fact one local journalist has called it 'musical chemistry'. Codette's style is heavily influenced by a number of artists across many genres, but their sound can be likened to synth wielding dynamos such as The Human League and Boards of Canada. Music from their earlier projects has been featured on cult snowboarding programme 'Riders and Rich Kids'.
