Clyde Sundquist

This site is a dedication to Clyde "The Glyde" Sundquist who so unfortunately passed away in November of 2007 after a 3+ year battle with ALS. The recordings here are testament to his sadly undiscovered talent, mostly due to his humble nature and non aggressive role in the music industry. There is no doubt about his talent and ability, and all who knew and worked with him in the business revered him as a natural and star and loved working with him and being around him. He was generous and thoughtful to everyone; his life threw him countless curves and challenges which he overcame, only to be concoured by a devistating and random disease. Clyde played with countless bands over the course of his life, starting in the late 1960's with horn based soul/funk bands, namely, The Soul Machine and The Happy Day in Chicago Illinois. He worked with wedding and jobbing bands around the city, and lastly, his most favorite of all, The Marshall Vente bands, Jazz Tropicale and the Marshall Vente Blues Band, and their Steely Dan Tribute tour. The Happy Day were regularly featured with radio personality Dick Biondi playing "The History of Rock and Roll". Band mates Roger Pauly and Vince Ippolito went on to form "Happy Day Productions" writing and recording Emmy Award winning commercial jingles for the Illinois Lottery and countless national corporations and sponsors. Clydes voice was heard around the country in those nationally syndicated commercial traks for McDonalds, GMC, Carlton Hotel, Schlitz Beer, Chicagos' public transportation company, The CTA, Ovaltine, and many more.
