Band/artist history
My first experiment with music was in the early 80's I think, at the age of about 13. For christmas I got a dual cassette tape recorder boom box that I used to dub tapes of my favorite groups then. The first was a mix of Herbie Hancock and Lisa Lisa Cult Jam with Full Force. From there, I had experience in the high school band with drums and the clarinet, doing recitals, competitions and the whole bit. Then I got into football and left the music behind, except of course for my passion to frequent dance clubs and listen to the progression of electronic music. I got back into producing music in about 1998 when I happened upon a program called MTV Music Maker or something, I still have it around. I didn't think about doing it seriously though until I found Acid 2.0, I still have that too. Now I have Acid 4.0 which is a dream cause you can really manipulate the sounds to make them more yours. And I can still use my old MTV program to create original loops and such that is usually reserved for musicians with real instruments. And so, we'll see where it goes from there.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Nothing yet. I don't imagine that my music would get played anywhere but at the dance club or in the movies, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Your musical influences
When I try to think of who, it's mostly the early bands. Herbie Hancock, Lisa Lisa, Neucleus, Fat Boys, Dazz Band, and so much more. Today I love the sounds of artist like Enigma and Paul Oakenfold. I hope to be as good some day.
What equipment do you use?
My trusty PC, Acid 4.0, MTV Music Maker, about 6,000 sound files, and head phones (for the wife).
Anything else?
I really hope you enjoy my sounds. They come straight from my head and I follow no one. It's not just for dancing to, it's also for listening. I don't just throw together crap and hope for the best, I really listen closely to each and every sound and all of the cuts and sound modifications, and I try to keep the theme of the song in harmony and rythym. Let me know what you think and tell me if you play it for a crowd, party, or in the club. Thanks!
