Chuck Rock

My first band was called "Attitude", when it began & consisted of Chuck & Shawn - two neighborhood kids who enjoyed making Weird Al Yankovic styl INVALID parodies of popular songs. We followed in the footsteps of Beastie Boys & Run DMC, mixing rap & hip-hop elements with a sprinkling of rock music. Wowsers, starting back from that old moment in ancient history has got me all misty. Maybe i hafta cry now... i think i can't even write anymore. Or maybe it's... Because i am a slacker. Or not. After we branched out on Attitude [adding friends Larry, Jerry & Craig-amongst others who would come and go over time-to make it feasible to be a live band] we eventually morphed into the band that became "Youth @ Risk", the first heavy rock band that we thought was breaking new ground, & making an innovative fresh new concept by having my old buddy Shawn [hip-hop emcee extraordinaire], [aka DJ E.B.A.] working with us as DJ - to play popular songs during concert music breaks, not only with some rap, but also as adding the turntable as an instrument to songs with extra scratching over the beats, with samples to give the sonic bed of our material more power, texture & options. Eventually Shawn & i, we brought back the original Attitude formula, with revolving guest musicians doing whatever, in the form of our fantastic "side" project Apex Zero. Now youth @ risk is making things happen! www.allgoodasylum.com - - www.facebook.com/youthatriskband
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?

We did that for a long while playing countless live concerts at the local and regional level, and we did what we could with what we had, and we had a lot of fun, but it became more battles for control over the musical direction than there should have been. So things came apart. Eventually Shawn & i, we brought back the original Attitude formula, with revolving guest musicians doing whatever, in the form of our fantastic "side" project Apex Zero. Now youth @ risk has begun a new album.
