Band/artist history
" Somewhere in the Black Mountain Hills of Dakota there lived a young girl named Christina Rasch" .....The singer-songwriter with the soulful voice, was born fourth of ten children into a musical family in Rapid City, South Dakota. .....Now living in Los Angeles, Christina has collaborated with several successful songwriters including Grammy award winning singer-songwriter, performer and producer, Mark Hudson. .....Christina's influences stem from the Beatles to Prince to Stevie Wonder and Sting to Cheryl Crow. A talented pianist, Christina has clearly shown her own ability to write well in several genres. Much of this can be attributed to the diversity of music she's performed over the years. Christina has plenty to say and so many ways to say it. .....Christina began her professional career at age 12 playing piano and singing background vocals for Family Affair. The aptly names group which her dad Robert started on a whim, featured the talents of her brother Bobby and sister Mary, for what may have seemed to some like a real life version of the Partridge Family. .....Covering everything from The Judds to Mariah Carey, to Whitney Houston to Lenny Kravitz to Guns and Roses to Metallica, the band quickly began playing regularly in their native South Dakota and all over the Midwest. News travels quickly and within a year, Family Affair became the entire Rasch family's sole means of support. .....Not long after the demise of Family Affair, Christina and her brother Bobby joined her sister Mary's band, Dust 'N' Roxx. Also about this time, Christina got her first taste of the movie business. A local journalist, for whom she had once done a commercial, told her that they were casting for an independent film about Native Americans called Roads, which was being shot in the Black Hills. Maybe some of the Native American blood in her own veins had something to do with it, but Christina's reading clinched the leading female role. .....In 1995 with the $250 she borrowed from her aunt, Christina threw her clothes and keyboard in her car and headed for Los Angeles, the "City of Angela". Staying with a friend until she could get settled, Christina landed a job at West L.A. Music so she could support herself. .....In February of 1996, Christina met Mark Hudson when he came into the store. Having heard from one of the managers she had ambitions as a songwriter, Hudson asked Christina for a demo. It didn't take more than one listen to convince him Christina had immense potential. Soon after they began working together on a regular basis and one of their early collaborations produced the song, In My Head. .....In May of 1996 Christina began touring as a background singer for an upcoming young Mexican Tejano star named Jose Manuel Figueroa. A year later she began singing backgrounds with his famous father, Joan Sebastian, one of the most successful Mexican songwriters ever. She toured all of the U.S., Mexico and Central America performing for thousands of people until 2001. She cites Madison Square Garden as her favorite venue she has had the pleasure to perfrom at although she's performed at some of the biggest arenas all over the U.S. and into Central America. .....In March of 1999 she was signed to Warner/Chappell for her songwriting. After one listen, the VP of Warner Chappell, John Titta decided to sign Christina on to an artist's publishing deal. In the next two years she wrote and recorded several new songs and collaborated with several other songwriters like Kevin Savigar, Jamie Houston and Dean Grakal among others. .....In October of 2000, Christina began working at John Tesh's independent label, Garden City Music/GTS Records where she has been learning the other side of the music business, the business side. .....In December of 2002 Christina joined John Teshs band as one of his backup vocalists. She began to tour extensively across the U,S, with the Tesh band and performing on national TV shows such as the Wayne Brady show, TBNs Praise the Lord, DayStars Celebration show and later in 2004 on the Tony Danza Show. .....In October of 2003 Christina produced John Teshs Public Television Concert Special, Worship at Red Rocks, shot at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver, CO. She also was on vocals again leading a choir along with Christine Miller. This produced a live CD and DVD that were released in September of 2004 within the top 10 of Billboards Praise and Worship Charts, Her solo performance of I Can Only Imagine has been cited as one of the highlights of the concert special. .....Christina continues to write and look to the future to use the talents and skills she's acquired over these many years. She's already a veteran to some in this business but she's at the age where some artists get their start. And even with all this experience, she has only just begun to show us what she's capable of.
