Christina Q
After 18 years of playing guitar and creating songs, finally I got the corage of putting some of them on a record, this time alone, and get the feedback of people...It's a quest on finding happiness through music and with the message in the lyrics a try of making a point about the world surrounding me and not only about my own belly. Strong lyrics and melodic harmonies gained with experience in suffering and in personal growth is what supports my music.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
After making a stop in my five year carrier with Merry C in Finland I needed to get my own stuff on record. So, I created a concept with animate B.D. and with an Alter Ego (The Q) so she could tell almost everything that she wanted to without exposing myself. It's a three album plan, this is Plan A: Alter Ego, next is already being prepared called Plan B: Perspectives; and the third it's a surprise like it is a surprise the different approaches on the sonority between them...I don't know yet, but I know myself good enough to predict all of this.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
It's my life for 12 years, it's the air that I breath. I Tour in Portugal, in Finland and in some small clubs in London, Brussels, Tilburg(Holland), small frontierd villages in Sweden, Norway and Russia.
My special moment solo is still to came but with my scandinavian band - Merry C, we opened for Tom Jones in Finland.
Your musical influences
I love music in general, so I listen to Anita Baker and Erica Badu, but I work usually my songs on top of rock influencies. Skunk Anansie is my favourite but I love Sherryl Crow and Lenny Krawitz 'cause of the ruffness of guitar melodies. Also Aerosmith voice melodies they are great, so, everything surrounding guitars is my thing cause I play electric guitar for centuries and I never get enouth!
Keywords connected to me are for shore: guitar, women, rock energy, strong voice.
What equipment do you use?
In this work I try to mix old vintage sounds with new age loops.
Anything else?
A woman can and will survive doing rock and breaking bounds in the male rock world!
