Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Lisa Christian and Lisa Durand met in Atlanta, Georgia, and began collaborating in 1995. Collectively known as Christian/Durand, this exciting duo has amassed a large and loyal fan base in the Southeast. Their unique, southern-styled, original music combines country, rock, and old-fashioned rhythm & blues for a sound that is instantly recognizable yet completely fresh. Finally. Christian/Durand produces their high-octane sound by blending Lisa Christian's deep, sultry voice with Lisa Durand's powerful, country-rooted vocals. Together, their voices soar beautifully into breath-taking harmonies. Their exciting sound is powered by Lisa Christian's driving rhythm guitar combined with Lisa Durand's colorful interlocking guitar parts and shimmering harmonica solos. The two are like Legos. They fit together perfectly, but you wouldn't want to step on them with your bare feet in the middle of the night. Christian/Durand relocated to Nashville, Tennessee in 1998, where they recorded their debut CD "Go West, Virginia" at EMI studios. "Go West, Virginia" has been played on several radio stations in the Southeast, including 99X, 96 Rock, Y106.7, WMLB, WGST and Album 88.5 in Atlanta, Georgia, WVNA Hot 100 in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and WDCC in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. One of the tracks from "Go West, Virginia", a tribute to the South called "Don't it feel like Georgia", was selected for Billboard Magazine's "New Talent Spotlight" compilation CD. Another track, the provocative and unabashedly sexy "Unfaithful Woman" reached the #2 spot on Billboard Magazine's Talent Net website. After selling well over 5,000 copies of "Go West, Virginia" out of the trunk of their '91 Camry, they are being considered for a distribution deal from Toyota. Christian/Durand are currently recording their follow-up project in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, with Jimmy Johnson of the legendary Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section (Aretha Franklin, Rolling Stones, Paul Simon, Leon Russell, Wilson Pickett, Bob Segar, etc.) Some of Christian/Durand's performances include the '98 Lilith Fair show in Atlanta, Georgia, the 1996 Summer Olympics at Centenniel Park in Atlanta, and the '98 and '99 Nashville Entertainment Association Extravaganza showcases. The have opened shows for Steve Wariner, T. Graham Brown, Starship, Mark Collie, The Georgia Satellites, Steve Forbert, NRBQ, and the Sky Kings (featuring Bill Lloyd of Foster & Lloyd).
