And now a word from my bio:
A Little More, Christas third release since 1997, has been called a fantastic eclectic blend of instrumentation, combined with beautiful vocals and very strongly written songs.  CCM magazine portrays A Little More as a refreshing musical adventure, with the essence of the message being found in the albums first song: We are meant to discover meaning and mercy in Christ, whose love is the colour of life. 

In 1995, the death of her father, a popular Canadian television personality, became the catalyst for starting her music career. Carpe Diem suddenly became very real, she said. I was reminded that nobody is guaranteed a tomorrow, but I did have a today, so thats where I started.   Drawing from the well of her post-graduate studies in music, her interest in other cultures, and years of directing childrens choirs, college students, and black gospel choir at her home church in Edmonton, Alberta, Child of God Music was born.

Since the release of her first album Child of God, Christa has performed across western and maritime Canada, in and around Texas, parts of the US, and in Liberia, West Africa.  Most recently Christa was invited to open for Burlap to Cashmere at Six Flags over Texas, and has shared the stage with Dove Award winning Female Vocalist of the Year Nichole Nordeman.  Today she can be heard on Christian radio across Canada, into the U.S., Puerto Rico, Spain, and in West Africa.

Have you performed in front of an audience?

As a lot of artists would tell you, I practically LIVE to play LIVE. Being able to perform is really what it is all about for me. My farewell-to-Dallas concert in June was a very special moment - for many reasons, but mostly because of how the band pulled together in a pinch (and by "pinch" I mean the percussionist backed-out the night before.) I played a different instrument in every song, my drummer learned new patterns without blinking, and I recruited my neice to play shaker on one song. It was such a great feeling pulling it off! And it truly changed the way I see my music....I see now it can stand alone without all the dressing up it gets in the studio.

Your musical influences

I was introduced to international rhythms and sounds through the artists I listened to - synthesists like Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon, U2, Sting, Alanis Morissette and Enya.  When I began recording, those influences started showing up in the exotic instrumentation and polyrhythms that she wrapped around my singing.

Anything else?

Christian music is currently in a no-mans-land between art and theology, commerce and worship, the world and the church.  A few artists are bringing the two together (U2, for one, but don't get me started...)  Nothing I do, say, write, record, perform or play can totally and completely communicate the incredible peace and hope and joy I have in Christ.  But I will try.  And prayerfully it will be appealing enough to the "world" to make it out of no-mans-land and into people's CD players.
