Band/artist history
I have been playing in bands since 1965. In the 70s I fronted STICKY FINGERS and then went on to play in folk bands throughout the 80s and 90s. I finally went solo in 2004 apart from occasionally playing with GERRANS ALL STARS.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I occasionally play live and partake in jam sessions in the local pub. I also gig with THE GERRANS ALL STARS http://entertainment.webshots.com/album/560092246kXujSx?vhost=entertainment, a great band made up of guys from other bands in the area.
Your musical influences
My musical influences are quite wide. I have been a great fan of the ROLLING STONES since the first time I saw them and Keith Richard and Ronnie Wood do influence the way I play. I had the pleasure of meeting Ronnie a few times in the 60s and he did show me a few guitar licks. It's funny but I think that you can be influenced by another player without actually sounding like them. I love all the old blues guys like Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf ect.. Richard Thompson is also someone that I look to for inspiration.
What equipment do you use?
I have a few guitars and mountain dulcimer and a mandolin which I am still struggling with. The dulcimer which was made for me and is a beautiful instrument. I used it for my song OUT OF THE WOOD, which my CD has been titled. My favourite guitar in is my Blue Ridge Resonator.
