Chimes

Hip Hop has been identified as a style of music and as a culture. Rap is the lyrical flow that a musician, rapper, poet, or what have you, lays over top of the music rhythmically. It has come a long way since it first began and, although some believe Hip Hop to be dead, it is in fact just in an evolutionary process. This is half the story and sound of Chimes. "Becoming" is Chimes, mixing Hip Hop sounds with that of Jazz sounds, which is the foundation that Hip Hop was birthed from. Jazz has its roots in the fusion of African and European music. Heavy emphasis has been placed on such techniques as improvisation, which is the essence of expression without preparation. Improvisation: The Expression of Freedom.? Improvisation is central to Jazz-Hop. Though Hip Hop (and even Jazz at some point) has been labelled as a renegade's music, it is simply an expression of freedom through the evolution of sound. The expression of freedom is the sound of Chimes. The expression of freedom is the movement that all reach to embrace. Experience the freedom. Experience Chimes.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I started playing around with the Mac's Garageband program way back around 2004/2005. Since then I have improved immensely. Each year seems like I'm graduating from beat school at the top of my class because I am constantly learning, and constantly growing. So much so that each year's music that I produce, in comparison to the previous year's productions, is like night and day.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I've done a few shows and performed at some events. I absolutely love it. I would have to say the most special event I performed in was for an event was geared towards adding value to a group of people who moved here from another country. I wrote a song specifically for them. The energy was electric in that place that night!
Your musical influences
Kanye West has been a huge influence to me: both lyrically, and beat-wise. Daily experience also influences my music. I may make an instrumental that reflects a feeling, or write words to do the same.
What equipment do you use?
I use Garageband to make all my music.
Anything else?
Music is bauce! (That's Boss for ya, pronounced like "Sauce", only with a "B").
