Children of Eve is a four piece heavy alternative/punk band from CBS, Newfoundland. Formed in 1994 and has been able to adapt to the frequently changing music scene. Known for our powerful live performances.Band/artist history
Children of Eve is a four piece heavy alternative/punk band from Conception Bay South, Newfoundland. We formed in 1994 as a cover band playing Nirvana, Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer covers. We began writing our own material and recorded a six track demo entitled 'Tribute to Chaos' in 1996. At this point the band consisted of five members. We disbanded in 1997.
After a year Greg, Bruce and James decided to reform Children of Eve as a three piece, but drastically changing its musical style, and focusing on writing original material rather than covers.
In the spring of 1999 we released 'Realize', our first full length album. Within one year we sold one thousand copies, were nominated for two MIANL awards, performed at the East Coast music Awards, performed on Breakfast Television and played countless all ages and Bar shows. Children of Eve went on to win the Molson Battle of the Bands in 2000, and recorded a three song demo in 2001. The demo was not made available in Newfoundland, as the band relocated to Toronto. Things didn't last too long in the big city as personal problems ultimately destroyed the band.
In the summer of 2004 Bruce and Greg decided to reform the band again, this time as a four piece with a new lead vocalist (Joel Upshall of Commoname) and a new bass player (Steve Hollett of Standalone). Again, drastically changing its musical style. During the fall of 2004 we wrote, produced and recorded our second full length album 'this island just might kill us all...', which is set to be released in late February of 2005.Have you performed in front of an audience? We love to play live. We have just released a brand new CD called 'this island just might kill us all...'. The upcoming CD release shows at Junctions are going to be incredible.
