Chicken For Chico is a band that is new on the scene. The band is from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and is currently playing out in that area. There are 4 members: Karen Tavui is the singer, David Neri is on guitar, Benny Neri is on drums, and Graven is our brand new bass player. CFC's sound is very original. We add latin, melodic, and punk influences into our alternative rock. Their is also a great mix with the rock sound of the band and the deep melodic sound of the singers voice. Your guaranteed to grove to it. You can check out their web site at www.chickenforchico.com
Band/artist history
There is not much of a history with this band. We are the future. Music made for everyone to enjoy, old and young. Actually, the truth is we had our fist show in October of 2003. SO we are fairly new on the scene. There isnt much of a history yet. There is a history of the band members though. Karen Tavui, the singer was in a few cover bands over the years before she joined CFC. She played all around south florida in small bars and pubs. The guitar player David Neri and the drummer Benny Neri are brothers. Tey have been playing together for many years. You may be familiar with sime of the bands they were in: Hedway, & The Wicked Screaming Squitrs. As for the bass player Bob, he is a long time musician who is great at what he does. We have been looking for a younger bass player for the longest time, but we just cant seem to find someone who can play at his level.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
CFC has been playing live all over Ft. Lauderdale. The Factory seems to be the place we play most often. They have given us the chance to play with many extrordinary bands.
Your musical influences
We have so many musical influences its rediculous, but I'll go ahead and list some. Tool, No Doubt, Fiona Apple, Portis Head, Janis Joplin, Dave Matthews, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Bjork, and too many others to list. These bands listed do not mean we base our sounds on them, we just admire these people.
What equipment do you use?
What ever we can get our hands on. We love to bring in horns on our songs that have more of a punk flovor, and we sometimes have a conga player play some of our songs that have a latin feel to them. We love diversity.
Anything else?
Remember to check out our web site. We have some great pictures, and a message board so you can let us know how good or bad you really think we are, but I dont think we will have any complaints. And if you really want to help out indie bands, call you local radio staion and let them know what you think. www.chickenforchico.com
