Cheap Labour are a Melbourne based Blues band and have been giving the Peninsula the blues since 1995.With covers performed the way only they can, and their gutsy originals, Cheap Labour will give you the blues all night long.
Band/artist history
Cheap Labour had its Blues beginnings in 1995 with James Gregor on Lead Vocals, Paul DAbbo on Bass, Stevie Pearson on Lead/Rythm guitar and Lisa Bancroft on drums. Lisa left the band in 96/97 and was replaced by another Lisa (who was from Pommy land). Lisa was a driving force during her short stay with the band, which was cut short due to other commitments. After a couple of stints with fill in drummers, John Kassapian joined the band in 1998. Johns Jazz influence helped create the sound the band has today. 1999 saw Dave Higgs join the band playing Lead/Rythm, a switch from playing Bass with Chainsaw prior to joining Cheap Labour. At the same time, Stevie Pearson switched from playing Lead to Bass as a personal choice to expand his blues experience, which filled Cheap Labours need for a blues influenced bass player. February 2001, Peter Koryn joined as the new drummer and with his blues style added another piece to blues as performed by Cheap Labour May of 2001 saw little Stevie head north for warmer pastures, and Bonnie Barratt moved over from The Gators to "try the hard yards and battle the blues" 2002 sees the band as they are now with Bob Pritchard (Carson Taylor Band) on drums,Tony Aimsbury (Fortunate Son) on Bass, Dave Higgs (Chainsaw)on Lead/Rythm Guitar, and James Gregor on vocals
