Chain Ruger born Willie Wrice been in Chicago's hip hop scene since the 80's. As many hip hop artists Chain went through different phases of the game. Once a potential athlete who dreams was to be the next Walter Payton found that music was more to his liking. "At age twelve is when I was introduced to rap music, at that time I heard the music I didn't know what it was called". After a friend of his brother heard him listening to a tape and ask him did he want to hear more of this music that caught his attention the friend open up a door Chain never exited. "Once I started getting into it I started off dee jaying - about a ounce of graffitti I wasn't good at it then came rapping." He also been through different crews (R.A.N., E.O.D., and other affliations). But, the crew that became his friends better yet his family is the Ill-State Assassins. Started by himself, Kingdom Rock, Riot one and Massive. The goal was to bring every Chicago artist(s) that was hot under one umbrella like Lucky Luciano did with murder inc. but the rap way. The group that started in the Ida B. Wells projects (where he was born and raised for twenty-four years) on the southside of Chi in a area known as the Low End. "We'll hit parties, open mics, college radio stations like W.H.P.K and go in other niggas hood battling or just plugging new members. You know how it goes- some stayed some left and the ones who stayed keeps it movin'". Fo' sho'. Chain Ruger also have his history of the streets too. From getting caught in crossfires to having a gun put to his head to selling drugs, police run ins, fights, retiliations etc. etc. etc. "that's Chi-Town-just like most urban areas you deal wit' thank GOD for the blessings and try to survive." Even though Chain was never a member of a gang he was always affiated. But, in Chicago gang members don't care if you is or if you ain't a member. Who they see you with that's what you is to them no discussion. From hanging with gangs like GD's, MC's, Stones, Vice Lords, Four Corner Hustlers and whoever. He said them street cats show him love and look out from time to time when he was hurting. "I got partners who been killed, some locked up and others doing alot better for themselves. Some felled to drugs. So the music I'm doing is called gangsta rap-so be it. I like reality rap better. I do this for them. I'm they're voices cause I understand the struggle. No matter who doesn't." Now it's 2005 and beyond. The Ill-State Assassins survived many hardships. They bank on themselves instead of others for family buisness. Beside the Ill-State Assassins album Chain Ruger solo album "World Domination" which features the O.G.'s of Ill-State to the new breed of Assassins is in the final stage. If you love street anthems, club bangers or just straight up rill talk then Chain Ruger's the main stop. (check for Always into sumthin', Yeah Ruger and Keep hustlin' to name a few songs from the album). Believe me-this album is like how rap albums was in the eighties. Every song is HEAT! What he says-investigate it and it will lead you to the truth-this is his life or was his at one time. So let me end this with the illfamous Ill-State Assassins saying "It's ILL 4 LIFE NIGGA!" NUFF SAID.
