Hey Carl! From a Stranger to a Stranger has that cool 50's rock and roll vibe... shoowop, showadawada feel. And I just love Danny Hamilton's guitar. Nicely done.
Thanks for stopping by - you're a real sweetheart!

How very kind of you to take the time to listen to some of mine and comment on each. I agree, it is always nice to meet someone who appreciates lyrics and the imortant role they play in a song....and you have no idea how happy I am that you have put yours up for each song. Now, when I come over to listen,I shall enjoy the songs even more...and I will be back shortly to listen to them all...got a rush job on right now but this weekend with have a Carl de Burnage song-fest...promise!

thanks carl for the great feedback-mitch ryder was an r and b/soul/rock/legend,from the late 60s to early 70s-from detroit michigan-here in the states-lady with a blue dress on-was a big hit for him-well keep in touch-thanks again.

Thanks, Carl! I'd like to hear your Patsy'esque song.
I love Loretta, she's from my neck of the woods. Yes, I was born a coal miner's daughter. Three generations. I hope you'll be back from time to time as I am working on a tune I really think you'll like... called Never Leave Harlan Alive. I imagine you might be fond of fiddles, mandos, and banjos, somewhat. Those celtic roots and all.
Take care!

Howdy Carl!
I stopped in (Via Danny Hamilton's) and wanted you to know I enjoyed O'Maureen. Many (most) of my ancestors were Scotch-Irish. There's something special about references to those old "home" places that my grandparents spoke of.
English Rose was nice too.

Hi Carl,
Listened to all of your songs and enjoyed them. My fave was Summer Stars but there is something to enjoy in them all. I think you should listen to Amy....you need to strengthen your vocal somehow. By the way, the Hank Marvin riffs are great in Brit song....I know my genius collaborator, Grand Jury, would love that as he is a mad-keen brit pop fan. i'll send him over.
I found you through Amy's page...we work together on this and that.
Nice to meet another fellow Brit here. I am from Brighton :)
One last thing: do you think it is possible to put up your lyrics with the songs? as a lyricist, I like to read them as I listen...it adds to the enjoyment for me.
all the best

Hi there,
geeze, singing advice, well...you have to keep in mind that I am basically a self taught singer so a lot of my methods are a bit unconventional, but when it comes to working strength and confidence in my vocals I find that some visualization or conceptual techniques have really helped me.Like finding a visual focus in the room and singing to it. something up high on a wall or ceiling, like a light fixture. I imagine I can see the sound coming out of my mouth and if I concentrate on projecting it to the light fixture it seems to help me iron out any parts of the vocal that aren't as strong and confident sounding as I would like. Also, physically reaching for notes that are too high or too low has really helped me, thinking of reaching up to grab a high note,(like, with your hand) maybe helps anchor it subconciously...I don't know...I also used to sing into the speaker at the top of my lungs (within reason of course) close my eyes and concentrate on matching my pitch, dynam

Hey Carl, per your request I've just uploaded a "live bootleg" version of our band performing The Doors' "Break On Through" to our Soundclick page. It was recorded in September of last year and I believe we probably do a better version of it now, but it's the only one I have recorded at the moment. I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to hearing from you. Keep Rockin'!

Hi There,
Finally had a chance to listen to a few of your tunes, not all of them yet, but I like what I hear, good songwriting skills I like the mix on a lot of what I have heard so far. The only thing that sticks out a bit for me, and I hope you don't mind my saying, but there are a few pitchy spots on the vocals, it's not consistant, in fact it sounds to me like just a bit of lack of confidence, like you're holding back just a little, coming just under the pitch usually, very very slight. Most people probably wouldn't even notice, but as a singer (and someone who aurally disects music instinctually)I pick up on even little things. I hope you don't mind my criticism, I think that you have so much potential, your voice has a very nice tone to it and you have a wonderful, natural sense of phrasing and dynamics, just maybe try to be conscious about not holding back, I know it can be hard, I have similar issues sometimes myself, like when you hear something you have recorded and you know

Hey There,
Thanks for visiting my board, I actually just added another new song tonight, so I thought I would drop by and let you know. I haven't actually had a chance to listen to your music yet, but I will. I have found soundclick to be a great community, I hope you find the same! Will be back soon to let you know what I think of your tunes,
Cheers,
Amy

Hey Carl, thanks for your kind words on our Soundclick page. You mentioned that you were a big fan of the Stones and The Doors, so I thought I'd let you know that we just posted a new song on our Soundclick page. It's our live version of the Doors' classic "LA Woman". Let me know what you think of it.
Regards,
John
