Far from Here Far from Here
Far from Here is about knowing there's something better out there. It's about the peace that comes from being content & from being persistant in working toward a goal regardless of what is going on right now that makes us miserable.

Ms. Understanding Ms. Understanding
Though it seems to us that no one else knows, in our darkest hour, we are not alone.

Nothin's Changed Nothin's Changed

Smorgas Smorgas
After fruitlessly churning over what to say or do, one finds that expression simply stems from love along with its various objects and the antitheses it causes.
If you have yet to hear the smooth vibes of Canvas, you are in for a delicious jazzicopia of riffs and rhythms.

Band/artist history
Guitarist Conor Miller and sax player Dan Leonardo were gigging around Oregon in their duo called Casual Sax. They asked their friend Karrie Pavish to sing with them on a couple occassions and the audience really enjoyed it. Next came the fabulous violin mistress Julie Southwell, and then Canvas further evolved by adding bassist Pat Pearsall and drummer Michael Summers, both of whom had played in another band with Conor and Dan several years before.
Since December of 2002, Canvas has been writing, rehearsing, and rough-recording tunes and now, less than a year later, have over three hours of original music that please crowds of all ages.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We are based in Oregon and play live on the West Coast, USA ... we love it. There's nothing like sending out all-original tunes to packed venues and seeing people really into the music.
Your musical influences
Canvas - DMB, Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, anything funky or bluesy
Karrie - My musical influences include Kathleen Battle, Steven Tyler, Paula Cole, Jennifer Knapp, U2, Crystal Lewis, along with blues and classical music.
Conor - Dave Matthews Band and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones
Julie Southwell - Bluegrass, celtic, classical and world beat
Dan - I'm with Conor, I love DMB & Bela. We all went to see Bela when he was in town and received further motivation in our own musical creativity.
Pat - From a young age, I've listened to anything I can wrap my head around. From metal to jam...
Michael - Kool & the Gang, DMB
