Canio
What's good everyone? This is ya boy, Canio... I'm a 28 year old rapper/beat producer/CEO of Pagliacci Productionz and my newest venture, Just Heard Promotions...
I've been rapping 13 years and producing beats for 3... I am an amateur by all definitions as I use unprofessional grade recording equipment and I do all of my own mixing and mastering despite having no formal training. I am a completely self-taught musician and I am currently holding down the #49 (at the time of this writing)spot on the local charts for Fort Lauderdale in the hip-hop genre as recorded and reported by ReverbNation. (http://www.reverbnaton.com/canio)
I just started to pursue a serious career in music last year after many years of struggling to make it in an unforgiving self-absorbed world... If you enjoy my music and believe I have a real chance at success, I would really appreciate if you could show my music to a friend or maybe drop me a message or a comment just to show your support. Honestly, trying to make it as a musician is a TRUE struggle and it can be disheartening sometimes, it really makes my day when someone lets me know that they enjoyed a track, or a verse... I will ALWAYS do my best to respond to every message as quickly as possible and I appreciate those who take the time to drop me a message, it means a lot. But truly the biggest biggest compliment you could ever pay me is to share my music with your friends.
I am a real person with a real story, I haven't quite started to tell it yet, but it's coming very soon. My real name is Rudolph Andrew Whiles, I was born in Hershey, PA on June 24, 1982. The circumstances of my life have not been pleasant, but I work to make the best of what's available to me.
I made a quiet yet abrupt entry into hip-hop in 2009... My goal is to positively change and shape hip-hop and simultaneously self-empower those going through difficult times and feel there is no one to relate with... After doing a couple of "hook" tracks to gain club and radio exposure and establishing a small but loyal fan base, I am now ready to make my move...
Over the next year, you can expect some of the craziest music the game has ever heard while staying true to hip-hop and myself... If you're looking for more rap about how much money someone makes, or how many people I rob, it's not really my thing and I'm probably not the rapper for you, and have a great day anyway... Don't get me wrong, I have my tracks where I go real hard and gritty, but I do it with class...
I have a lot of serious issues to address and a serious message I'd like to share with the world.... If you're ready for songs of positive influence through graphic displays of technical lyrical word play... Stick around, things are about to get real interesting... I have 12 years of lyrics about love, life, death, parenthood, employment, government conspiracy, corporate superstructure frustration, family, abandonment, bigotry, shame, and more... I promise to address the world's issues through displays of personal relevance and I also promise to simultaneously shape hip-hop back into what it's supposed to be...
Hip-hop was formed to address issues affecting the worst neighborhoods in the world, hip hop was always meant to be people with a love for music making a positive influence and change in the neighborhoods that need it the most... In a time where nearly all are struggling, those neighborhoods are expanding fast instead of being improved...
Positive hip hop has slept for too long... We've glorified gangbangers and drug dealers for too long... It's time to embrace teachers, philosophers and astronomers... The time has come to embrace knowledge... The world is turning a blind eye to too many important issues on a daily basis... Not anymore...
Now for my producer bio (LOL):
As far as my beat production goes, there is no one like me... I have probably the most unique sound in the game right now, I'm on some true one-of-a-kind isht right now and when you're one of a kind it's only a matter of time before you become commercialized, I recommend you jump on these beats now while they're still non-commercial...
I prefer to make my tracks without samples, using no samples keeps your isht truly custom even when making a remix... If you check the "Satisfaction" track here on my page you'll see what I'm talkin' about...
I blend elements from all genres of music, I'm a big fan of old school or old skool however you choose to spell it and I like to keep elements from old skool in most of my tracks...
I never know what I'm going to come out with when I make a beat, I just start putting sounds together until I have a sick ass track that I'm happy with... I like to try and keep 'em epic in some sort of way... Sometimes it comes out gangtsa or as a club banga like G-Stomp, sometimes it's on some horrorcore isht... I'll have some dirty south isht comin' soon, but done MY way... Then I come out with beats that are like me, completely versatile and you could do whatever you want with it, like Sleepwalkin' and Never Sleep... You could do something wicked with it or somethin' serious or whatever...
Just swing through, I ALWAYS have something fresh comin' out...
I think you get the point... I'm the sickest, dopest, producer/rapper droppin' hot isht, yadda, yadda, yadda... 'Nuff said, just go listen, LOL...
P.S. Be sure to get a free download from my page while you're here, they're hidden in amongst my other tracks, you'll just have to go look for them ;)
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Canio was born when my friends got tired of hearing my problems... I had no one else to talk to, so I talked to the mic...
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I play live at various venues in the South Florida / Fort Lauderdale area... Places where I have performed include: Area 7 in Oakland Park, Stage 84 in Davie, The WallFlower in Miami, The Living Room on South Beach, Kevro's Art Bar in Delray Beach, "Stomp the Violence" Rally in West Palm Beach 2009, and more...
Your musical influences
Everybody and everything... I listen to ALL music and am an avid admirer of music as a whole... I'm a big fan of old skool hip-hop and jazz, rock, just EVERYTHING...
What equipment do you use?
Fruity Loops 9, Acid Pro, Sonar, Reason 4, Audacity, Adobe Audition and soon I will have Pro Tools... My current mic is a crappy $20 Karaoke mic (And I'm still in the top 50 ((Out of tens of thousands)) for artists in the hip-hop genre on reverbnation), but I just recently bought a Shure SM58 with High-Grade XLR Monster Cable, forget the cable number but it's the really expensive one that makes sure your highs and lows arrive at the same time... Now I'm just waiting to get my Shure X2U and I will resume recording, but for now I'm just makin' them beats!!!
Anything else?
Much Love and Respect for all my friends, family and fans, please add me up on MySpace (myspace.com/caniopagliaccio) and if you like my music, be sure to register as an OFFICIAL fan at http://www.reverbnation.com/canio
