Candelaria
Candelaria is a mixture of cultures, a mixture of styles and musical backgrounds. We take elements from Jazz, Funk, Pop, and blend them together with a delightful Latin flavour.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
What William and Miguel Benavides base their music on today, they used to hate. Before moving to Vancouver, the two brothers were surrounded by a vast amount of musical influences from their native Colombia. They didn’t really hate Colombian music, they just didn’t appreciate it because it was always there. Instead they were drawn to American influences such as jazz, rock and pop. After moving to Canada they realized the richness of their background and soon started “re-exploring it”.
In Canada they met Russell and Alison with whom they click really well, and soon started combining all of their different influences. Today they call themselves Candelaria and after 3 years, they have released their first album “Equilibrio Emocional” (Emotional Balance) which content is quite intriguing and delightful to those ears that like a touch of originality.
