Calico (NC)
From the early age of 12, Calico has been an advocate for hip hop and music in general. His love for music stems back to his early childhood when he recalls freestyling with his older brothers. Though his love for rapping was prevalent, he acquired a love for producing. These early beginnings laid the foundation to what he has become today. With the passion for producing in his mind, he joined the middle school band and became exceptional at various instruments such as drums, piano, and saxophone. Having acquired a musical background, he applied this to his music. His early works were mostly influenced by his original works.
Years later, he stumbled upon computer software programs that could arrange and produce music. Since he had a musical background, it was easier to incorporate his own style and creativity into his tracks. He tampered with sampling and various techniques to develop his own style.
Years later, he has produced tracks for numerous local artists such as S.Black, J'dup, and SLT Entertainment. He began to develop an arsenal of tracks that no other producer could mimic. Majoring in Electronic Music at NCAT SU, Calico has strived to become one of the most sought after producers in North Carolina.
