Buzz Mck
Well,it's not a band actually. It is rather a solo adventure.(My actual band is "Tubular Brain" from Cosne sur Loire (France). What I do as a solo artist is quite different from what I do with my band. Here I put feelings and emotions forward,it is kind of "autobiographical music" at times...I like to mix differnet styles of music, but the basics are heavy rock.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
First,Buzz's real name is Aurélien Nozé and He was born on the 28th of february 1976 in Cosne sur loire(Nièvre/France)!
He first enjoyed the music listening to bands such as Europe,Iron Maiden,Scorpions and Yngwie J Malmsteen. In a funny way,Buzz didn't start his artistic career as a guitarist but as a drummer. This was back in 1990.He played the drums in a "funny" band that he had created with schoolfriends. This was called "Spiders".This was rather an experimental experience than a proper band! Therefore this band is said to have influenced some of the greatest!(he he!).Some of their songs have remained unforgettable:"It's your last word","Marine","Good lands and Bad lands"and so on.Check out the official Spiders site for more information. Then in 1992,the band split off and Buzz was looking forward to playing in an other band.Since one was looking for a guitar player he deciced to join in and started playing the guitar(at the age of 16).He took no lessons and learnt it all by himself, which was not an easy task, since the first gig to be given was only 2 months ahead!!!The Band was named"Fusion".This was another debute band composing rarities such as"Elle,je l'aime!"or"Angel Eyes"...They gave a few concerts, rehearsals and all but didn't last long. There was tension between the keyboard player and Buzz.So buzz decided to create his own band as a guitar player with his best friend:Olivier Ferry(Alias Julius Floyd). The aim at first was to do cover songs so as to train more on the guitar before trying anything else.1993:The name of this new band was first"Extasy",but it soon became"Blue Steel" for the first name evoked some kind of drug to many people!Funny innit? With Blue Steel he played many gigs such as the famous "self-organised" 18YEARS-SHOW in March 1994 selling out 150 tickets! They also played the "Nuit du Rock"festival, opening for the parisian band called "Les Cadavres"!The band felt they needed a kind of wind of change and wanted to move on.So,in 1995 Blue Steel became a trio:Tubular Brain.Seb Garnault played the bass guitar and Fred Bidolets played the drums. The band was named after the name of a videogame character(found out by seb) and Buzz felt that it really represented the sort of reactive message and image that he wanted to send out!TUBULAR BRAIN did many important shows(they played twice at the Printemps de Bourges for ex.)and one studio session with former bass player Seb.When seb left in late 1996,they spend 2 years on stand-by looking for another bass player. When Vince Guinault's joined in 1999,he merely saved the band!Fred and Vince are now part of Buzz's official band.Buzz is lead singer, composer and guitar player.(To know more about Tubular Brain, check out their official Website). He does also own his own recording studio and independant music label:BuzzMck Autoprod and the Studio D153
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I play live with my band, but my solo recordings are currently only for home listening. That is a different approach,I think.
Your musical influences
My main influences are Progressive Metal with bands like Dream Theater or Symphony X.Also Freak Kitchen,Paul Gilbert,Steve Vai,Joe Satriani,Yngwie Malmsteen,MegadethMetallica,Jimi Hendrix and Julien Damotte and so on!..His guitar style is probably (if not a mix of all these) at least influenced by them!
Buzz currently uses laney TT50H heads with Marshall Cabinets and Ibanez S1220 Sabre prestige guitars on Stage.
What equipment do you use?
I use Ibanez and olp guitars on stage.I record using a br8 or tascam 2488.I program drums on a gaing system!I use a Laney tt50h on stage as well.I have about 11 guitars and bass
Anything else?
Hope you'll enjoy my "emo-rock-music"!!!
