Burti Lasky
Burti Lasky is a four-part harmony band that hails from Canada. The easiest way to describe the music would be to call it good old rock n' roll. More specifically, though, you got your funk, your quirky pop, and your 'Ontario folk rock'. Burti Lasky has an album in the works - it's tentatively titled '2020' and it's due out this spring! Stay tooned!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Burti Lasky was founded by Ashley Newall and formed in Ottawa, Ontario in 1998. Adam Fogo, on bass, played in legendary Ottawa band Big Fish Eat Little Fish and with funksters Gammahoochee. Adam also currently plays in buzz band Wax Mannequin. Brendan Allistone, on lead guitar, fronted his own band called Pleather, which paid great homage to Van Halen and Rheostatics at the same time. Brendan's songs are mini rock opera's which defy all conventions but still somehow make perfect sense -that is to say the songs grow and rise organically, and don't adhere to regular pop dogma. And Jack McGregor, on drums, was a highschool compatriot of Adam's who has played in numerous Ottawa bands, including Xfm darlings, fLESHpAINt.
