In January of 2002, the hands of faith brought six individuals together, to create something that would change their lives forever. By September of the same year, this 'something' had already begun exploding on stages, releasing its first album and hit single Supernova. Freshly squeezed from Orange County, Burning Tree Projekt is a fusion-rock band and is comprised of six gifted musicians with diverse influences in music. Their stage presence has built them a reputation as one of the most entertaining bands in Orange County. Flying through the air is nothing new to Rock and Roll but doing it with joy and a positive attitude is. The Burning Tree Projekt is committed to having fun and keeping the crowd singing along. Their sound is a rock mix of hip hop and punk some are calling Hybrid-Rock or Emo-Core. Their lyrics are relatable and often times deeper than they appear on the surface. But we are our own sound. We are our own genre. We are the Burning Tree Projekt. Burning Tree Projekt started with lead singer and composer Enik Lin. Classically trained since the age of 3, he won his first award for music composition at the age of 7. By the age of 16, he had experimented with genre's ranging from rock to pop to electronica to hip hop. Collaborating with rhythm guitar player Tim Sohn, this odd mix brought together Tim's influences such as The Dave Matthews Band & Jimmy Eat World. Rapper/lyricist Andre Harris brought in his influences of underground hip-hop but was later transformed by other influences of bands such as Finch & Coheed. The result was a rapper that knew how to scream and scream with emotion and passion. Adding lead guitarist Sean Gordon brought the band to the next level. Sean's mix of classical riffs and death metal brings to mind Yngwie Malmsteen guitar virtuoso. Dropped into the melting pot next was bass player Dave Kim. Punk Rawk Dave contributed his influences of emo-punk and hardcore. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, drummer John Yoon had to leave the band after the first unforgetable year of BTP. Then Burning Tree projekt found it's replacement drummer, Mark Chiang. Orginally starting off as a jazz drummer, Mark's drum chops brought a very unique and skillfull flavor to BTP. Constantly progressing in skill, Mark went from jazz to metal within months. Constantly applying his roots in jazz made his style even better. On July 10th, 2004, Tim and Mark officially left BTP to pursue other callings. A day that BTP will never forget as long as we live. On July 3rd, 2004 Burning Tree Projekt found a new home and signed with Jaggo Records/EMI. Replacing Mark, new found friend and drummer Chris Mora joined the team.
