I always have been BUBBA B. I may not have been born and named BUBBA B, but all that I have done before is in preparation for right now. The status of MC was given to me after several years of hard work and proven "Move the Crowd" and "Microphone Commanding" skills. Skills that seem to have been lost by most other Rappers. I never fail, I never disapoint and I always have remained true to myself and my own personable and enchanting flavor. That is what sets Bubba B apart from all the others. Have what it takes to captivate an entire room or crowd of people and make sure that when they leave or go home, their still buzzing. All the really GREAT ones did it without partners from Biggie Smalls to Elvis. When the room lights went down and the spotlight went on, it was all them. I have been in different groups, done collaborations, and even partnerships. I always have been at my center core...BUBBA B.Have you performed in front of an audience?Yes, I perform live!! In different clubs, special events and tours. Doing shows in front of one person or a crowd of people is awesome. I think that the reason I've lasted so long is that I always keep it fresh and exciting. People love to see me perform live.
Your musical influences
When I first fell in love with Hip-Hop was in the 80's, when driving with my dad and my little sister we were listening to Whodini. "The Freaks Come Out At Night" had connected a father, his son, and his little sister. Three generations all under one groove; VERY cool. I actually fell in love with music much earlier than that though. Growing up my father played everything from Calypso, to R&B, to Rock and Roll. My mother was always singing and writing songs, poems and stories and I naturally gravitated to it early on. My older siblings were playing instruments and learning jazz, classical, orchestral and Big Band era stuff so I grew up loving everything. I liked anything that made sense, was positive, had a message, told a story and came from the love of it.What equipment do you use?
Ensonic SQ1, and Ensonic ASR10, Pro Tools, live drum kits, live bass and guitars, kitchen tables and bathroom walls. Anything that makes a sound or can hold a beat, I even use my "tried, tested and true" beat box skills. My Co-Arranger Iggy O or Grammy Nominated producer Fresh I.E. help bring it to life.Anything else?
I single-handedly got my whole block, city, Province and Country locked down playing my songs and quoting my lyrics with no Multimillion dollar budget and no video. I even got the Chief of Police listening to my music and commanding performances. I have sold out of ALL copies of the disc EVEN THE RE-ISSUES!!. With a lot of hard work pounding the pavement with the best advertising medium EVER... Word of Mouth! I put together an album that I would listen too, a complete package, not just a single or two. I made it Professional in every aspect from recording to shrink-wrap so that anyone who paid their hard-earned money for it knew they werenÃâât getting ripped off. Made sure that the songs and their message were real, honest and true to me and not what is in popular culture right now. I wanted it so that anyone can listen to The Good Life, the kids who are 2 1/2-3 years old who look up to me and the 72-year-old retirees who admire, respect and listen to it. I did the best job I could do with the resources that were available to me at the time. NO ONE had done before me what I HAVE done where I'm from. I'm blazing trails and cutting thru cornfields. There was no one I could ask how "they" did it or talk to, and the few I did talk to said it couldn't be done, so I knew I was on the right path. Talking to Will Smith before a show and he told me that "There is going to always be people who are negative and don't believe you, all you got to do is don't believe them and ALWAYS believe IN you". My own monetary commitment indicates that I am SERIOUS and unlike others, dedicated.
