Bruce Takara is a native Houstonian of Mexican and Japanese decent.
This Neo-Urban influenced vocalist and multi-instrumentalist is also an established producer and songwriter. Bruce's unique ethnicity has played a crucial role in encouraging him to cultivate a sound that reflects the cultural diversity not only of his heritage, but a sound that encompasses the various backgrounds of industry influences and colleagues.
Takara nurtured his desire to grow musically by learning piano at age 8 and saxophone a few years later. Bruce went on to graduate from college with a degree in Music Business/Recording. While in college and after graduation, Bruce gained much of his production experience working with 2x-platinum producer/songwriter Marlin Demby for
Southern Fried Entertainment. Bruce welcomed the opportunity to co-produce and engineer with SFE on several projects including Ice Cube's platinum CD War: Volume 1 and Trick Daddy's album Thug Holiday.
Bruce has also has also established himself as the Hottest upcoming producer in Houston; blazing tracks/hooks for Paul Wall(WB/Asylum),
KRuger(Def Jam), Chamillionaire(Universal), Big Gem(Universal),Kiotti(WB/Asylum), and Lil Flip(Sony). Takara is also getting global
mixshow rotation from H-towns Mean Green(KPTY104.9) to Germanys DJ Groove (JamFM-Berlin) and has hit the mixtape circut in 2005 appearing on DJ Smallz Southern Smoke 17 b/w Ghostwriters and DJ Lt. Dan Lil Flip vs. TI b/w Lil Flip.
Takara's debut project(2002), They Call Me Bruce... took roughly 3 years to complete. Many of the songs on the album came from Bruce's
personal relationships and experiences. In 2005 Bruce Takara will have a rare combination of Neo Urban Soul. A sound that will transcend the categorizations and labels that have been placed on southern music",says Takara. Bruce is certain that if he stays humble and remains true to what he has in his heart, he will become a household name.
