Alternative General

Bruce Chambers has played piano for 27 years and sax for 25. He wrote his first song at 13 and just made the cross-over from hard rock to smooth jazz. You can hear traces of rock in some of Bruce's jazz and it makes for a unique blend still with smooth jazz & fusion dominating the sound.

Bruce Chambers has sold CDs in more than 40 countries without a record deal thanks to the internet.

Bruce's latest project is the Long Island Podcast Network, where he produces the shows and DJs local unsigned music.

Band/artist history

I played piano and keys for hard rock bands and opened up for some major acts including Ace Frehley of Kiss and Dee Snyder. Those were the good old days in Rock. I had the saxophone sitting in the closet for years and one day turned on the local NY City smooth Jazz station, CD 101.9, and decided that the sax was getting dusted off and back into the studio with me.

Have you performed in front of an audience?

Played live in New Jersey, New York City, Bahamas, and Philadelphia. Performing live is a special kind of excitement. Recording in the studio is fun and you create whatever energy in the studio that you can. However, I get to interact with my audience in ways I never know when they buy my CD.

Your musical influences

David Sanborn, Nelson Rangell, Boney James, Dave Koz, Jim Brickman. Any great smooth jazz and fusion saxophone, alto or soprano and piano player that has influenced any artists: Coltrane, Sanborn, Charlie Parker, etc.

What equipment do you use?

Buesner Alto Sax, Jean Pierre Soprano sax, Yamaha keyboards.
