The "band" in this case is, well, me, my guitars and my computer. All three are very pleasant, agreeable, well-read, and like cheese.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Playing guitar off and on since, oh, about 1967. Playing drums since grade 7. Playing with computers since 1990. Played in bar bands across western Canada through the middle of the 1980s.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
My main gig is with cover band The Brute Squad in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and I previously played in classic rock cover band Crosstown Traffic.
Your musical influences
Mike Oldfield, Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre, Phillip Glass, Enigma, Rush, Iron Maiden, Yngwie Malmsteen, Sting, Enya, Yanni (at least I'm honest about it!), Mark Knopfler, Keith Urban, Muse, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Peter Gabriel, Alan Parsons, Bach, Mozart, AC/DC, Metallica, Blue Rodeo, Stevie Wonder, Prince, etc. Not all of these influences (maybe none) are found in my noodlings.
What equipment do you use?
ESP B-304FM bass, Fender Geddy Lee Jazz bass, Ibanez SR-406 six-string bass, and Godin A5 fretless five-string bass and Godin SD electric guitars, Yamaha acoustic. D'Addario XL Chromes, Half Rounds, and XL bass strings and GHS Boomers guitar strings. Markbass CMD-102P, Boss ME-20B, Hartke VXL Bass Attack. Fender Frontman amps, Behringer V-Amp 2, and various virtual amps for the studio. Korg padKontrol. M-Audio 61-key MIDI controller/keyboard, Tascam US-122L USB/MIDI interface into a dual-core PC using Reaper and a whack of VST and VSTi plugins.
Anything else?
If anybody wants to donate a Dingwall 5-string bass, feel free! :-)
