BRIGHT LIGHT BURNOUT
The music of BRIGHT LIGHT BURNOUT is at times familiar, but also with a new and creative edge. There’s no pretense, no desire to be the “flavor of the month” - it’s simply honest rock stylings in the classic format of bass, guitar, drums and vocals.
The feet of BRIGHT LIGHT BURNOUT are firmly planted in the proudest of rock traditions, but there is also an appreciation of the new - embracing the forever unfolding and changing musical landscape.
Powerful & inventive guitar work, with a steadfast, tightly interwoven rhythm section, coupled with passionate vocals are trademarks of BRIGHT LIGHT BURNOUT. The intensity and ardor of the lyrics invariably lead each listener down their own path - an interpretive journey through dark halls, always seeking the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel.
Climb aboard with their 7 song, self-titled EP: from the delicate strains of “Shadow”, the undeniable hook of “Lifelight”, or the slow-burn of “Pictures”.
There’s something for everyonestep into the light.
Heathe Bryan - vocals
Paul Bilek - drums
Brian Smith - guitar
Chris Poteat - bass

Heathe and Chris are best friends & were in a band together back in the day. They took some time off & decided to play together again. Heathe & Brian had been working on some material for awhile brought Chris in & they needed a good drummer. They then found him in the most unlikely place...down the hall at their place of employment. 2 studios, 9 songs & countless gigs later here we are...Have you performed in front of an audience?Yes. We are an active live band. We perform primarily in the Atlanta area. One highlight was opening for JAMES HALL & PLEASURE CLUB at Smith's Olde Bar.
Your musical influences
All over the map.
Heathe is into a lot of singer songwriter stuff, but also has an ear for what is hot at the moment. We both share an affinity for what we call the "Unholy Trinity": Mark Curry, James Hall & Chris Whitley.
Brian is a musical sponge - he can get something out of anything, but his faves are Pink Floyd & Stevie Ray.
Paul is an Old School drummer: Bonham & the like...you know BIG ROCK! We affectionately refer to him as "Thunderfoot". There's a rumor that he was the original drummer for "Manowar" but that is unconfirmed at this point.
Me? (Chris), Well there is the aforementioned "Unholy Trinity", but I'm also a big sticky '70s geek: Glenn Hughes, Tommy Bolin, UFO etc...I also love power pop (Big Star, Cheap Trick), P-Funk & dark soulful stuff like The Afghan Whigs & Twilight Singers.
Mix that all together, stir gently. Follow with a beer chaser & you have Bright Light Burnout. What equipment do you use?
NO MACHINES!
