Brick River is a four piece band based out of Hutchinson , Ks. The band is grounded in the blues and classic rock. It provides dance-able upbeat blues and great classics. Its members come from diverse backgrounds, places and musical styles to play the music they love. They are equally at home with loose, old-school rock, new rock , funk and jazz. The bands original music runs this gamut as well; equal parts tradition and innovation.
Miraculously, these four men came together in the winter of 2005.The original forming of the band happened because Gordy Pettipas was asked if he could get a band together to play in a local Battle Of The Bands after the original band dropped out of it. The guys got together four times and entered into the battle of the bands against local champs The Boulevard Band. The night ended in a draw. After doing so well there they decided to stay together as a band and see what happened. Now after being together for almost two and a half years, they are regarded by many to be one of the best bands in town.
The band is made up by Gordy Pettipas from Boston , Massachusetts on lead guitar and lead vocals, Jim Slater from Chicago , Illinois on rhythm guitar , Rob Newton from Hutchinson , Kansas on Bass and Benny Agoitia also from Hutchinson , Kansas on Drums. In the summer of 2006 they recorded their demo CD. They recorded a total of 18 songs but decided to make the demo consist of only 3 blues tracks.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We do play live.Pretty much any where that will have us..We love to play there's no better high then getting on stage and playing for people that love what you're doing. My only comment I guess would be: No matter how many people are telling you "you'll never go anywhere with it!" keep it up..Granted you may never get Big and Famous but you still touch peoples heart and soul in one way or another every time you take a stage.
