Brent McCollough has been an aspiring musician/singer/songwriter since he was seven years old. He has taken from five different teachers with five different approaches and currently studies with Ray Reach, who teaches Jazz at the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame. After his move, he has participated and placed in several statewide competitions. These include winning first place in the state in both fifth and sixth grade in the Reflections contest sponsored by his school and winning third place against of over 120 contestants in the statewide Stars Fell on Alabama contest at the Alys Stephen's Center in Birmingham, Alabama. Since then, Brent has performed privately for jazz legend McCoy Tyner and met the famous Herbie Hancock. On top of keeping his position in the National Honor Society, he currently plays in several different bands. These include being chosen to be the pianist for the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame Student All Star Band. Brent also is the keyboard player for Juice, a rock band that has performed all over Alabama, including performing at Alabama Adventure in Birmingham and Center Stage in Gadsden. Juice has raised $200,000 from several charity events. Brent continues to write songs and compose music, in addition to honing in on his vocals and piano technique. Lately, Brent has focused on recording and producing all kinds of music, including his own, and received a scholarship to be in the Honors College at the University of Alabama to study Jazz Studies Piano. Brent continues to strive for perfection and hopes to pursue his music career throughout the rest of his life.
