Two chicks that make damn good music... we think that's a good way to describe Brainchild. They started writing their own materiel in '95 and from there, their style has evolved into a more defined and mature sound. They recorded 2 demo-albums in a friends little studio and they liked the experience so much they did what they had to do to be able to do this for themselves and got equipement. They just finished recording their first home studio album, Gemini, which truly is the sound of Brainchild. With colorful piano, inspiring lyrics and rich harmonies, this duo will make you ask for more...
1986 - Little Emmanuelle meets little Judy-Anne in first grade...
1996 - Best friends since a while, Emma and Jude write their first song together, I don't care anymore, lyrics by Jude & music by Emma. Something has started there...
2000 - The now prolific duo decides on a name, Brainchild it is. The girls meet Mario MC Cloutier, the incrediblely nice guy with a little studio in his house. Oh, the possibilities...
2001 - First studio experience !! Brainchild names its first album Patience, representing the 5 long years they had to wait before they could record their songs. Patience features 15 original songs in both english and french.
2002 - Yeah, you knew they wouldn't stop there... The girls are back at MC's to record Whispers, second album, all in english, with already a more defined and mature sound.
2003 - January 25th 2004, Gemini, Brainchild's third little baby comes out, people ! Almost entirely recorded in their new little home studio, it features Emma's first song in which she wrote the lyrics. If you ask the girls, they'll tell you that Gemini truly is the sound of Brainchild. But, hey, who knows what else is to come on the next cd ? (which, by the way, is in writing.)
We don't get a lot of opportunities to play live but when we do we love it. We've played a couple of numbers in concerts.
We find the music we do hard to categorize. Most of our songs have a piano base and a lot of hramonies. We listen to many different styles and artists such as Sarah Mclachlan, Tori Amos,Queen, The Cranberries,Jewel... etc and it most likely influences how we write our music but we can't really point out how. lol
We use a piano, a Kork 01/W keyboard, a Kawai keyboard, an Audio-Technica microphone, and Adobe Audition 1.0 to record and a SB Live 700 sound card.
