REAL HIP-HOP! That is the genre of music that The Boondoc Saints would be classified in. So many artists today just arent as good as they use to be. They dont take the art of Hip-Hop seriously, so long as they get the check. Every song that The Boondoc Saints make is put together in a very creative way with the pioneers of hip hop in mind. We create music that they would be proud to hear and even support.
The group came together in the summer of 2004. The interesting thing is that Dash (Nick Hurley) got his first main inspiration to rap when he was fifteen, and he heard Tommy (the oldest member of the group) freestyling on a tape. Tommy was known as the best, and being five years older than Dash, who would have known they would be in the same group one day, along with Ryan Freeman and Cameron Fox, who is Tommys cousin. The group thinks of it as destiny, or like the song, Divine Intervention, which tells the different stories. The groups main drive is to blow Indianapolis up nation wide, and be respected by the greatest of MC's. Dash is also the groups producer, bringing the uncanny ability to make Fruity Loops and other internet music generators to make beats that sound like they just came from a Triton. He has a Kanye West meets the Heatmakers beat style, specializing in sampling some of the biggest songs in music history, and many obscure samples, and then adding the Boondoc Saints flare. The Boondoc' Saints' other producer is Great Lakes, who produced DASH's first solo album two years ago. The Boondoc Saints have performed at 25 clubs in the past year ranging from the Patio in Broad Ripple several times, opening for acts such as HUM-V and The Kleptoz, a popular group around the area. They use to have a show every other week at All Stars, which was also in Broad Ripple. All Stars was the home of 96.3s Pandemonium every Friday night. The first time The Boondoc Saints performed there, however, was on a Saturday and they brought in more revenue than the radio station did the night before. All Stars closed down a few months ago due to unknown reasons. Other places where the group has performed are The Vapour Lounge in Clearwater, The Kasbah in Broad Ripple, CT Peppers, The Velvet Lounge in Castleton, Bellavita on the Geist Resevoir, and were featured artists at The Midwest Music Summit. Recently, The Saints made it to the semi-finals in the Battle of the Bands competition at Birdys Bar and Grill. That is very impressive, considering the fact that they were the only Hip-Hop group out of 93 bands!
The group currently has a fan base of 300 loyal fans who attend every event they perform. Their fans bring in more revenue for clubs then what the club brings in on their best night. Group is an unpolished diamond that with the right fine tuning will become the NEXT MAJOR STARS IN THE HIP HOP GAME!
