Bob Forrest
I was first interested in guitar when I heard Hound Dog by Elvis. Then The Beatles and Bob Dylan pretty much sealed the deal.
I wasn't blessed with the knack of picking up parts off of records so I resorted to songwriting to minimize my weaknesses.
That didn't help my singing, but I am working on it.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I started playing in 1963, I have been in several bands of increasing quality and played as a side man in a couple of others.
I have some song ideas that don't fit into my bands. Those songs end up here.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I play out with my band Dumb Blind Luck and at the occasional open mic night. Primarily I have put this page up to display my home recordings of my personal compositions.
Your musical influences
Elvis, Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Gabor Szabo, The Beatles and Stones and many others.
What equipment do you use?
Reverend Guitars and amps. Boss and Fostex recorders.
Anything else?
I like making new music that gives the listener something to think about. That probably disqualifies me from and sort of broad success.
