Bob Childs
I am a songwriter and musician, currently residing in Santa Barbara, California. My primary instruments are keyboards and bass guitar.
I find songwriting and composing to be the most rewarding facet of being a musician. I enjoy the solitude of working in my home studio and the sense of satisfaction and accomplishment I feel after finishing a new song.
I have also performed live in different types of groups over the years and enjoy the adrenaline rush that only performing live can bring.Band/artist history
My history as a musician and the histories of my bands can be found at www.bobchilds.com.Have you performed in front of an audience?I gigged steadily from 1996 through 2005, playing primarily in cover bands - Class Action (1996-2002), Soul City Survivors (2001-2005) and Shakedown (2004-2005).
I am currently taking a hiatus from playing in live bands, so that I can write and record my original material.
Your musical influences
When I reflect on songs that I have written, I realize that I have been influenced by a great many of styles. In turn, I write in a number of different styles. It was difficult to classify my music for the purposes of SoundClick (I settled on "pop general").
That said, I have been influenced by:
Beatles, Dream Academy, Elton John, Paul Buckmaster, Merle Haggard, Doobie Brothers, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, Linda Ronstadt, Goo Goo Dolls, Trashmonk, Simon & Garfunkel, Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Billy Joel, Don Ellis, Paul Simon, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Brian Wilson, Beach Boys, Rush, Burt Bacharach, Carl Orff, Linkin Park, Puddle of Mudd, Mudvayne, Eagles, Jackson Browne, Crosby Stills & Nash, David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, Boston, Oak Ridge Boys, Leonard Cohen, Jim Croce, Gordon Lightfoot, Harry Chapin, Ray Charles, Seal, Enya, Moby...What equipment do you use?
Whatever I can get my hands on! I have a modest collection of keyboards, guitars, a bass and various percussion instruments. I currently record on an 8-track digital recorder and my home computer.
Due to endorsement issues, I cannot identify the specific products and manufacturers I use in this forum.Admin
