Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
BLYND is a band from Tucson, Arizona that was formed originally in 1998. After 5 years of evolution and extensive sound experimentation, BLYND has harnessed a musical style all their own. Together this 5-man powerhouse creates a unique sound that intertwines digital samples and beats with a new-age style of heaviness, evoking an high-energy emotional rollercoaster. BLYND has lived in Tucson for the entire existence of the band, but has played in other Arizona cities such as Mesa, Phoenix, Tempe, Lake Havasu City - and even as far as Torrence, California and Puerto Penasco in Sonora, Mexico. Venues previously played include The Rialto Theater, The Gotham/New West, The Wildcat House, The Rock, Pima County Fairgrounds, The Backstage, The Mason Jar, Slainee's, Hollywood Alley and many other numerous clubs and bars around Arizona and beyond. BLYND has been featured in Revolt In Style Magazine as well as In Your Ear Magazine. Aside from their original self-titled demo, and the 5-song EP, titled INSIGHT, which was recorded in Tucson at Avalanche Studios, BLYND has recently recorded a 2-song single of songs that will be appearing on the new full-length CD. All of the releases have received an enormous amount of airplay on local Tucson radio stations KFMA and KLPX. BLYND has had the pleasure of opening for such up and coming acts as OTEP, I.R.A.T.E., Aggressive Persuasion, Blank Theory, E-Town Concrete and Noise Therapy. Keep your eyes open, as BLYND will be appearing on a couple of upcoming motorcross videos, a 9-band compilation of Arizona bands from Right Time Productions, the I.R.A.T.E. compilation, Jagermusic samplers and even a new version of a very infamous video game.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We have played everywhere in Tucson, Arizona - Several venues in Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, Lake Havasu City - We've played in Torrance, California - and even as far as Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mexico. We love playing live... Our live show is what we do best. We've had alot of great times and the shows keep getting better and the crowds more responsive. There's not enough space in here to go in depth about all the special moments we've had live.
Your musical influences
We have alot of influences among all of us... Helmet, Mr. Bungle, Deftones, Mudvayne, Slipknot, Incubus, Meshugga - there's way too many to remember all of them. All of us get inspiration from many places and people.
