Hey! Thanks for stopping by. You can find more info at our . We've got a couple of demo tracks available, and more on the way! After playing a few private parties, we're making our way onto the DC scene. Check back for the latest tour dates, music and news!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Prologue: 1980, Bill gets his first car, a baby blue Ford Pinto. Shortly thereafter he begins delivering pizzas. Fast forward... June 2003. In a small town outside of DC three guys (including Bill) gather to jam, playing covers of songs they really don't like, but find easy to play. July. Ben and his invisible drum kit joins are welcomed into the group. Ben attempts to drown out some of the noise generated by the 3 guitars played through sub-par amps. Bill writes a song about his beloved Pinto, and one about a first (and last) date. November. Pete has successfully made the switch to bass. The band and their six song set make their debut (playing as "The Band Upstairs") at Ben's birthday party. The packed venue claps politely at the end of every song. December: The gear wars begin. Andrew buys 2 new guitars and a new amp. Bill counters with a brand new amp of his own. The band has never sounded better. February, 2004. The band rents rehearsal space and realize that playing loud masks some of the mistakes. March. St. Patrick's day will never be the same. The band plays their first gig as "Blue Pinto." Claps have turned to cheers as the band rips through a set of obscure covers and rocking original songs. All in attendance concur that Andrew and Bill should not be allowed to wear hats. April. Ben, Bill and Andrew enter the studio to record 2 demo tracks. The session leaves Ben giddy. He rushes out and buys a new snare drum. August. Blue Pinto makes its public debut at the Staccato Lounge in the heart of Adam's Morgan. Very few--if any--leave before the last song is played. Not one women accepts agrees to join the band on the tour bus. November. The bad news: bassist Pete Koole departs. The good news: Blaine Collison (of Soul City fame) steps in... "Funkalicious" and "coming correct" quickly become part of the Blue Pinto lexicon. January, 2005. The band makes its triumphant return to the club scene.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes, we play live. We've tried playing dead a couple of times, but the rigor mortis makes it difficult to play those face-melting solos we're know for.
