Blue Eyed Dog

With a sound all their own, Blue Eyed Dog will rock your ears and your heart. Whether with anthemic choruses or atmospheric jams, the band has one thing in mind: to connect with your soul. This isnt your average rock band, your run-of-the-mill original band, when we say rock, we mean ROCK. Be prepared for a powerful, high energy performance with intense guitars, deep and funky bass lines, soaring vocals, and fat, pounding drums.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Hailing from all parts of the Midwest, Blue Eyed Dog came together in August of 1998 in Columbia, Missouri, to pursue a dream. After many months of songwriting, rehearsal, and formulation of the unique ideas that would become the trademarks of their live show, they recorded their first demo at John Oliver Recordings in St. Louis, MO, on October 23, 1999, and they set out to break into the local scene. Having finished the recording, the band was pleased enough to form Surface Tension Records and release it independently, selling copies at shows and local retailers. Shades of Blue, was born, and continues to open doors for the band, as well as selling hundreds of copies statewide. With a killer demo under their belts, Blue Eyed Dog began booking and playing shows at local clubs such as The Music Cafe, and Shiloh Bar and Grill, gaining that all-important live experience. They formulated their trademark promotion machine, with fliers, radio ads, tv ads, free giveaways, and of course the massive mailing list, to prepare for consideration as the house band at TPs Bar and Grill in Columbia. The show was a huge success, with many repeat gigs following. Gaining popularity locally, the band began picking up shows all over their home city and also in the surrounding region, playing regular shows at the Thirsty Turtle, Shattered, the DownUnder, Honest John's, and Deja Vu in Columbia; Cicero's, The Red Sea, and The Hi Pointe in St. Louis; Mo and Waldo's, and the Top Hat in Jefferson City; Fitter's in Warrensburg, and The Brick in Moberly. Blue Eyed Dog has also played a series of great shows at The Blue Note, The Firehouse (now defunct), and The Calvin Theater, with the likes of Colony, Moaning Lisa, Somnia, Off 231, Faded Sunrise, Blu Voodoo, Cyclamatic, Harper's Cricket, Ario Progitica, Poor Man's Vision, the Brother's Image, and Just Add Water, and were recently hailed as Columbias new favorite. Blue Eyed Dog has recently been stepping up even further, joining promotion company Space 380s roster and seeing college radio airplay nationwide and internationally on hundreds of stations with their first release, with several Top 30 chartings. With the release of their new album, Angel Behind the Glass, the skys the limit with the band, who look forward to extensive touring and radio promotion in the coming year.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We play all over the state of Missouri, especially in our home town of Columbia. We've had some great gigs at the Blue Note there.
Your musical influences
We all have differnet influences, but our overall sound is a mix of elements similar to U2, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, and Pink Floyd.
