Blood Of Blondes

South Africa
March 05, 2008
Hi, we are Blood Of Blondes, we are a Hard Rock band from Cape Town (South Africa), we have been together since June 2007, we love playing shows, does not matter if there is 4 people at a show or 4000, as long as we can play we are happy.
Band/artist history
Blood Of Blondes a current newcomer on the scene has been making a lot of waves in the Cape Town music scene. Their passion for writing music that all the members love and that is fun to play, has driven them away from sounding bland and radio friendly. They have breathed new life into a stale and somewhat copycat Genre and given hope to the few who believe that music is an expression of your own ideas and that it fundamentally is there to please yourself and not others. They manage to do this while still maintaining a strong sense of melody and rhythmic pulsation.Their live shows are attracting a lot of interest locally and by the looks of things they are the band to watch. Blood of Blondes are busy mastering there first demo and have plans to play as many gigs they can, they are currently without management or a record label, i am sure this will change shortly.....watch this space.... Wilmar Dunkley(Guitarist) and Mark Bekker(guitar and vocals) met in 2005 after Wil placed an ad for a vocalist for his then current band. Mark joined them but soon after his arrival the band broke up due to personal reasons. Wil and Mark being the only two left who wanted to carry on with there musical expedition decide to carry on and formed an acoustic project (as two guys playing electrics was just overkill and mainly did not sound good without drums and bass) They worked on songs for several months together and then finally started playing gigs locally. During this time they were still searching for more band members and were determined to choose the right people, which lengthened the process. In the winter of 2007 after a long search they auditioned Ewan Burger on the drums and they knew instantly that he was the right kind of drummer for them. Ewan accepted their offer and was also very excited to be joining the very exciting project. All that was left was to find a bass guitarist and they could really get rocking. Ewan decided to call up one of his old band buddies and hard core bass freak Francois Smit. However Francois was not to keen on the idea in the beginning and it took some convincing to get him to come jam with the band. After hearing the bass and drum combination of Francois an Ewan the founding members decided to offer Francois the last position in there line up. Francois accepted and there they were ..a whole band ... There was no name for the band in the beginning and everyone started throwing ideas around like wildfire, it was Wilmar who coined the name Blood Of Blondes. Everyone agreed the name fitted like a glove.
