BLACK TONGUE - a blend of hypnotic melodies, hardcore beats and socially
conscious lyrics that is delivered with a gritty urban appeal. This is a
polished, yet classic hip-hop sound!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
On March 12,1999, BLACK TONGUE RECORDS, LLC was established by Kwabena
Shango and Dre Galloway. The label was formed as an outlet for their own
musical expression,as the group Black Tongue. The duo expanded on the
initial idea of developing, not only their own projects, but also, other
projects that they believe will contribute to the culture of hip-hop.
The first project released by the label was BLACK TONGUE'S "Preamble To The
Game",in 1999. In 2000, the label collaborated with Architects Recording
Studio, releasing the compilation album "Street Soldiers Vol. 1 - Survival
Of The Fittest". The label has since expanded to feature the contributions
of hot, up and coming artists, Last Born, Large Mass, and production talents
of Vince Nelson.
With a BLACK TONGUE'S follow-up album, "DIVINE INTERVENTION", solo projects
and another hip-hop compilation project for release in 2003, the label is
gearing up to do big things. The goal of the label is to make a home for
hip-hop in Baltimore, Maryland.
