Black Root

Well it would be nice to see if anyone likes what I have up here. Be honest with me, I can take it =) By the way, I'm always lookin for a nice beat to lay my lyrics over.... - peace -
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I will say I'm a late bloomer. Outkast's ATLiens would have to be the starting point. Talib Kweli's "African Dream"(Reflection Eternal), initiated me to freestyle more consistently and eventually placing lyrics within instrumental tracks was inevitable. My name 'Black Root' is a combination of my Hue as well as a respect and appreciation for those who came before me. A root is also a base for strength when something grows. I know that I have a strong base, so anything I create comes from that strength....I'm a big fan of hip-hop history and other culturally significant history as well.... Man SO MUCH to absorb in ONE LIFE!!!
Your musical influences
WOW!! Too many to mention. But for brevity... Kweli, Mos, The Roots, Dead Prez, Lauryn Hill. Rakim and Big Daddy Kane. If weren't for those two Emcees, everyone would still be sounding like Run DMC and the Sugar Hill Gang. lol
