Black Rain Entertainment
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We know. You heard it before. "We are about real hip-hop." Since you already heard it. We're not sayin it again. Just livin it. Doin it. Bein it. Feelin it. Makin it. We do what we do, and that is to create what we feel. Our music is a representation of who we are/who you are as an artist. It's a reflection of our soul, seeking acceptance from like-minded individuals. Whoa!!! Didn’t mean to get too deep, but it is what it is. Most importantly, what we present here is a labor of our love and appreciation for good music. It is a reinterpretation of everything we've absorbed over the years, and put forth with a mission to bang through your system. So go ahead and get wet. It's BLACK RAIN.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Black Rain Entertainment is:
Dumar "Lite" Burgess - CEO
Terrance "Tee" Wakefield - Producer
Mike Brown - Production and A&R
Thaddeus Shaw - A&R
Black Rain Entertainment was born in 1998 when Lite, Tee, Mike and Thad decided to invest their money into something that would allow them to take control of their destiny, make a difference in the community, and live out their dreams.
Lite, a lover of all things pertaining to the Hip-Hop culture, had a strong community awareness and a keen sense of business, saw the opportunity and potential for us to unite as a business and affect a change in our own personal lives, as well as our community, and the music/culture we all grew up and fell in love with.
Tee had a passion to create and express himself through music and other artistic endeavors. His love of hip-hop culture combined with the dream and ambition of being a music producer, had him quietly dabbling with the music industry ever since his high school days.
Mike was always an avid fan of hip-hop culture who saw how some of the more negative influences of society were shaping the direction of the music and those listening to it, and wanted to get involved in the industry, change it from within, and help preserve the integrity and essence of hip-hop culture.
Thad, also an avid fan of hip-hop culture had a unique ear for spotting quality talent, and wanted to help shape the future of the music he loved.
Lite, Tee, Mike, and Thad had been friends for years before going into business as Black Rain Entertainment, so the foundation had been set. Each one compliments and enhances the strengths of the other as well as compensates for their weaknesses. As individuals they are all dynamic people who tend to attract and positively affect the lives of people who are drawn to them because of their skills and personalities. As a unit that natural magnetism is even stronger. With that in mind, they purchased some equipment and set up shop in Tee's apartment. Over the years Tee has taught himself how to use and manipulate the equipment, to physically bring to life the imaginations of sound, and further developed his skill of working with and guiding artists in their own pursuits of self-expression. Lite, Mike, and Thad have continued to develop the company as a business entity, create connections to people that can help Black Rain achieve it's goals, as well as provide valuable input to the process of producing tracks.
Today they are a company who is solidly rooted in the basics of hip hop culture and are still growing in creativity, skill, and knowledge, pushing forward to realize their collective goals and in the process create classic material.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Tee's been dabbling in music since he was in high school. He started off as a back up dancer in the Big Daddy Kane era of hip-hop for neighborhood rappers and then graduated to emceeing and writing rhymes for other people. That got him involved in being in, as well as hosting talent shows. Though he loves the feeling of being on stage and in front of a crowd, he'd rather be behind a mix board with a beat machine, and coaching other artist on how to make the strongest impact or impression. He does however love to make the occasional cameo appearance.

Tee has a gift for manipulating a sample. So until we get some clearances, what you have here are tracks that are sample free. These tracks tend to reflect his natural laid back demeanor and serve as his platform for teaching himself how to play the keyboard. If you like what you hear and would like to hear more, contact us. We either got what your looking for or can make what you need.
