Thanks for checking us out! Black Opal is a non-political modern melodic punk band. Collectively we've been performing for almost five years. Complete with 3-part vocal harmonies, 2-part guitar harmonies, driving bass lines, and an amazing drummer, we feel more than confident that we could Rock YOUR SocKs OFF!. We are extremely serious about what we do, while maintaining an enthusiastic stage presence.
Band/artist history
OUR TRACK RECORD: June 23rd, 2007:We took 4th place in the Emergenza Minnesota State Finals @ The Cabooze!!! We are soo lucky to have such amazing fans to come and support us!!!! Reviews from Station 4 : "A great surprise for the night was the rock performance of Black Opal. From the vocals to the guitars, these guys lifted the entire crowd up out of their seats and gave a great performance." -May 19th 2007 We received 2nd PLACE! Reviews from Club Underground: "Black Opal was next to molest the crowd, bringing the sex & drugs back into rock & roll. The guitars stung like bees and the 80s punk-Era vocals grabbed the crowd and held on for the whole set." -Dec 9th 2006 We received 3rd PLACE! February 07: We rocked FIRST AVE's NEXT BIG THING! We beat out over 100 bands in the local music scene and we received 2nd PLACE!.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Black Opal loves to play live shows with anyone and everyone. We currently play in and around Minneapolis; we love it, the fans are the ones that make the shows so awesome.
Your musical influences
Black Opal listens to a lot of everything. Many times we will surprise our fans with our new material. But they always enjoy it.
What equipment do you use?
On drums we have a PDP drumset, nothing too fancy, with an irreplaceable drummer. On bass we use a SWR 1x15 combo along with a Gallien Kreuger 2x10 cab, the bassist plays a Geddy Lee Signature Jazz bass. On rythm guitar we have a Crate GT3500H Head along with a Peavy ValveKing 4x12 cab, he plays a Fender Stratosonic. And on lead guitar is a Marshall combo with a Fender Strat.
