Influenced by Laurie Anderson and Björk, Elisabeth Szwarc cuts her own compositional path. Experimental rhythms and diverse sound collages meet profound lyrics and nonsuch singing.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Elisabeth Szwarc performed with improving artists as Lawrence Casserley, Jeffrey Morgan, Michael Reimann and Dinesh Mishra. She played together with Glen Hall and other musicians from the AIMT in Canada in the summer of 2007, amongst others at the "Tranzac" and at the "Leftover Daylight Series" in Toronto. As a member of the Electronic Ladiez Network, she performs regularly in the area of Cologne, Germany since 2006. More so, she played live with her improvisational ensemble Klangtreppe in various art galleries in the area of Oberhausen, Ruhrarea, Germany until May 2007 when she felt ready for new artistic challenges. Elisabeth made the sounddesign for a performance of choreographer Lior Shneior (Folkwang, Essen / New York) performed at the "Young Choreographers 2008", Essen.
Your musical influences
Books, tons of books. Reading and listening to words is something maybe like for a bee to suck honey. It's the street, people, objects, nature, making music just while being, being alive, living. Breathing is a big thing and can be so different. But I guess, I should point out some bands, huh? Let me name blur, björk, goldfrapp, massive attack, tricky, nin. Everything deep, dark, with emotions. Silly and stupid things aswell as severe classical orchestra concerts...
What equipment do you use?
